The saddest anniversary ...
Do not stand at my grave and weep

Kelvin, or Kel, as he always called himself when we were messaging on YouTube, died exactly one year ago. I only knew him for seven weeks, but his death nearly crushed me.
Nothing makes sense, with the abrupt and tragic end of a life that was still at the beginning of everything - the passing of a 13 year old boy, who had been through so much before, and who, then, finally was on the threshold of good things that would have begun happening for him. It was his chance to make a fresh start, and to become happy again ...
One year has passed, and I know that I will never really be at peace with what happened. But I also know something else ...
Kel has not passed for good. I know we will meet again some day, and I know that, until then, Kel is there - in everything good and beautiful that I see, and in the memories I have of him ... and in my heart.
The lyrics of Libera's wonderful song DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP say so much of what I believe and know. And this is why I decided, long ago already, to upload a video made from this song on this saddest of all anniversaries.
I wanted to express these thoughts that keep me going every day (although it is hard ...), and that I want to share with everyone out there.
I also made this upload in memory of another boy - Stew, who was one year younger than Kel, and who died only five days after him.
I have found a good and precious friend in Stew's older brother Mike. And I am sure that, just as Mike and I have become friends, Kel and Stew are now good friends, too ... and that they wait for us, and watch over us, until we will finally meet each other again.

Addendum
On August 6th 2010, Mike died in his sleep, from a cerebral haemorrhage. He was only 17 years old. There are no words to describe how I feel about this ... but now, the video that I made is also in memory of my friend Mike.

Literal Discoveries Vol. 3: The Methods of Mr Sherlock Holmes
I love Sherlock Holmes, and read every story and every novel that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about the famous detective. And I also downright adore the British TV series from the late 1980's to early 1990's, starring Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes.
Dr Watson, friend, companion, partner in the criminal investigations and chronicler of Sherlock Holmes' exceptional adventures, plays ever so often an important part in the deductions of the master detective - but unfortunately not in the way that Watson might wish:
"It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but you are a conductor of light. Some people without possessing genius have a remarkable power of stimulating it. I confess, my dear fellow, that I am very much in your debt."
(Sherlock Holmes in THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES)
I love these strains of humour that occur, when Dr Watson starts to walk on the paths that are Holmes' very own, tries to draw logical conclusions, and then ever so often heads off in a direction that is almost 180° away from where the truth can be found :-)!
The beginning of the famous novel THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES is an excellent example for this.

In this video, I play both characters, Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.
Please be so kind as NOT to expect costumes, settings and props in proper style of the late Victorian age - I may be old, yes, still I was not born in 1864, but 100 years later.
I tried to take up the references from the story the best I could, but took a few, say, "artistic liberties", too:
Finding a mandolin at Sherlock Holmes' side, instead of his trademark violin, is one of those things. And the attentive viewer will see several Sherlock Holmes books on my shelves ... and he will also be finding Nemo, ha ha!

TRACING THE SUNSHINE (made by JJWebshows101)
In life, it's the little things that really matter.
And when I discovered this video here in my subscriptions' list last night, I found exactly this thought portrayed there.
The idea that JJ had, is so simple and yet so nice, that I sat and watched smiling. It was an unexpected ray of sunlight that sparkled through the night here at my place :-) ...
